Dear friends,
Thanks for all those who joined us in praying for the
outreach in Waterford over this past week. We have been greatly encouraged by
the work the TnT team has done and for the responses we had.
Despite some wet days, we were able to distribute over 7000
"4YOU" magazines, an Irish evangelistic publication. We had two days
of street work with the team doing some sketch board preaching, some singing,
and engaging people in conversation. Several groups of school students listened
well to messages and took away CDs and literature. One man, Johnny, seemed very
open and spoke with one of the team for nearly an hour. We have his number and
will be following up with him. Another couple of young men, Darren and Tony,
had a good conversation with Tim Hood for about 30 minutes and were asking some
good questions. On Sunday evening at the gospel meeting, there was a Catholic
priest who came in and listened well to the message, taking notes, and asked a
few questions afterwards. A few years ago this same man had attended a Postal
Bible School prize-giving in the same hotel, where he had done the same.
Wouldn't it be wonderful to see him trusting in Christ alone for salvation?
Due to the weather, we were only able to do door-to-door
work on two afternoons but the gospel was faithfully shared with a good number
of people during these times. A young couple spoke with us for over an hour,
asking lots of questions. A Polish man invited two of the young people in for a
cup of tea and they had an extended discussion with him about how we got
the Bible and the reliability of Scripture. Another lady said that
she was interested in spiritual things but was very distracted by the child she
was minding. Others claimed to be atheists and yet spoke at length with the team.
Others were clearly antagonistic and many apathetic.
We are conscious that only eternity will reveal what God is
doing in the lives of those who heard the Word, but we do appreciate your
interest in the work of the Lord here.
The team moved on this morning and will have another week of
ministry in the Dublin area, including distribution of Jim McCarthy's booklet
on the Mass at the 50th International Eucharistic Congress.
Over the next week or so my major concern will be preparing
the Scripture calendar for next year. Two articles will need to be written and
photos and verses chosen. Last year this calendar was used by 14 assemblies in
Ireland with a total of 50,000 copies printed. Please pray that God will be
pleased to use this for His glory also.
In Christ,
David & Beth Wilson, Waterford
